Selecting Used Trucks

There are so many things to consider when you want to purchase a used truck online. It has definitely changed a lot from the past where your choices were fairly simple and even between the various automakers there was not much of a difference. Pickup trucks today can range between ultimate luxury and the standard work truck. Before shopping for a used truck you want to take some time and determine what your needs really are.

The first thing you should consider is whether or not you have a particular auto manufacturer to which you are loyal. If so, take some time to research the product reviews and specifications of the various models from that automaker. If not, you will need to use other criteria to narrow down your search.

You will also need to decide whether you prefer a full size, mid size or compact truck. One of the benefits of a compact truck is that it will often get better gas mileage than a full size truck. Be sure to check the EPA fuel economy ratings to be sure, however, since this is not always true. Compact trucks are usually capable of towing around three thousand pounds and are smaller than full size trucks. You should consider a mid-size or full size truck if your towing requirements exceed this.

You will also need to decide upon an engine size and drive train. Compact trucks usually come in either four or six cylinder models while full-size trucks come in a variety including six cylinder, V8, V10, and of course diesel. Most trucks will offer you the choice between manual and automatic and two or four wheel drive.

You also need to decide how much passenger space you require. Standard cabs usually just have one bench or two bucket seats while an extended cab will have small seats in the back. The largest seating capacity is with a crew cab which gives a full second row of seating and four doors.
